The City of Molalla owns and operates a water utility that serves the water needs of the entire city limits. The system takes source water from the Molalla River, pumps it to a Water Treatment Plant near the river, gets it ready for human consumption, stores it in two tanks, then distributes it through a series of water lines to the City of Molalla for use in drinking, bathing, cooking, cleaning, irrigation, fire suppression, and more.

With Molalla's population growing at one of the highest rates in the state over the past 5-7 years, and seemingly exploding in 2021 and 2022 with few signs of slowing, many people are nervous about the water system. Adding to those concerns is the fact that in the Summer of 2020 the City of Molalla experienced level 1 water curtailment.

This page is intended to provide information and answer questions on the Molalla Water System, Water Curtailment, and the Projects being undertaken to ensue the City has a sufficient supply of water to meet the needs of the City now and in the future.
