Building a new Molalla Police Station

The new Molalla Police Facility was completed in December of 2025, marking a major milestone in the City’s long-standing commitment to public safety. This modern, purpose-built facility now serves as the headquarters for the Molalla Police Department, providing the space, technology, and functionality needed to support officers and better serve the community for years to come.

This achievement follows the successful passage of a voter-approved bond measure in November of 2023. Passage of the bond reflected strong community support for investing in a safer future, while also acknowledging a need that had been recognized for more than a decade.

As early as 2012, former Police Chief Rod Lucich began advocating for a new facility that could meet the evolving needs of the department. In the years that followed, the City took deliberate steps toward that goal, including setting aside funding and identifying a suitable location. In 2021, the City purchased the former Bowling Alley property on Grange Avenue—an important step in turning long-term planning into a tangible project.

Many community members will remember the condition of that site. Vacant since around 2017, the Bowling Alley had fallen into significant disrepair. In 2022, the City auctioned off remaining equipment, while preserving pieces of the building’s history. Bowling pins were repurposed and sold to support Molalla’s park system, and sections of the original lanes were carefully saved and have now been incorporated into the new Police Facility—creating a meaningful connection between past and present.

Following the 2023 bond approval, the project moved forward rapidly. Final designs were completed, long-lead construction materials were secured in advance, and permits were obtained. Groundbreaking began in the summer of 2024, launching the construction phase of the project.

From its early beginnings as a recognized need in 2012 to its completion in 2025, the new Molalla Police Facility represents years of planning, community investment, and a shared vision for the future. Today, it stands not only as a modern public safety hub, but also as a symbol of Molalla’s dedication to serving and protecting its community.
