CWSRF Loan from Oregon DEQ Approved

This was a big milestone in the effort to construct a new WWTP.  DEQ provides a mixture of interim funding (to be repaid in a lump sum) and permanent funding (to be repaid over time).  Some of this funding may also be forgiven by DEQ.

Wastewater Master Plan Adopted

In December of 2018 the City's new Wastewater Master Plan update was adopted.  This was a very important update for the new plant as it incorporated the new plant into the Capital Improvement Plan and provided planning for the system upgrades so money would not be spent on items that would become antiquated and need to be replaced for the new plant.

Molalla’s Wastewater System Reaches Key Milestones on Path to Regulatory Compliance

Improvements to Molalla’s wastewater system are needed to create new capacity for growth and meet requirements under the City’s discharge permit. The path to regulatory compliance is a multi-year process – the City has reached two important milestones along that path.

1. The first milestone is completion of the Amended Recycled Water Reuse Plan. The Plan brings the City’s program into alignment with the capabilities of Molalla’s wastewater treatment plant and all applicable Oregon regulations.

2. The second milestone is development of an Interim Permit for discharge from the existing wastewater treatment plant. The proposed permit is based on Oregon regulations and consistent with requirements placed on other Oregon communities.

The City is committed to keeping customers informed, protecting water quality in the Molalla River, and maintaining affordability. These and other reports are available on the City’s website at http://www.cityofmolalla.com/.
