The Molalla Skate Park Rebuild Project is a community-led effort to replace the City's aging skate park with a modern, safe, and inclusive facility that will serve skaters, families, and visitors for generations.

The project is being led by the Timateo De La Cruz Memorial Skate Park Foundation in partnership with the City of Molalla. The Foundation is responsible for fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy, while working collaboratively with the City throughout planning and construction.

Timateo De La Cruz was just 14 years old when he began advocating for a public skate park in Molalla in 1997. His determination brought together local skaters, community members, volunteers, and city leaders to make the original skate park a reality.

Timateo believed every young person deserved a safe place to skate, build friendships, and feel like they belonged. The Foundation was created to honor that vision by rebuilding the park and ensuring his legacy continues to inspire future generations. He died April 22, 2022, at the age of 38, long before his time, and before he could see the rebuild of his beloved park.

This is one of the questions we receive most often.

The simple answer is we don't know.

The previous fundraising effort was led by Sk8 Molalla, which is a separate organization from the Timateo De La Cruz Memorial Skate Park Foundation. Our Foundation was established in 2026 as a brand-new nonprofit and did not receive any money, assets, records, or donations from the previous initiative. We started with zero dollars and are building this project from the ground up.

If the previous organization is still active, questions about its finances should be directed to its leadership.

If a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dissolves, federal tax rules require that any remaining charitable assets be distributed to another qualified charitable organization, or to a federal, state, or local government for a public purpose. Those assets cannot be distributed for the personal benefit of individuals. Which organization receives the remaining assets depends on the nonprofit's governing documents, applicable state law, and decisions made during the dissolution process.

Our focus is on the future. We are committed to operating with transparency, responsible financial stewardship, and regular communication with the community as we work together to rebuild the Molalla Skate Park.

The skate park will be funded through a combination of:

• Business sponsorships
• Fundraising events
• In-kind donations of materials and services
• Individual supporters

Every dollar raised by the Foundation will go toward supporting the rebuild project and related Foundation activities. We are committed to financial transparency and responsible stewardship of every donation.
