Why do we need a new police facility?

In short, the city has grown substantially since the Police Department/City Hall was built, but the building has not. The current 2,400 square feet that houses the Police Department was originally designed for 4-5 police officers; the Department now has 18 officers and 3 administrative staff.  The growth in population carries a need for more police department staff, more city hall staff, more space for records retention, and more space for evidence retention in order to continue to provide high levels of service to the community. The current building simply cannot facilitate both City Hall and Police Department operations at appropriate staffing levels given the City's growth since it was erected.

What will happen with the old Police Facility?

Just as the Police Department has outgrown it's space, so too has City Hall. Once the PD is able to vacate the existing building it will be used to facilitate the space needs of City Hall staff for both storage and personnel.
